Modulo reduced concrete use by 20 % in 2 public parking lots at the Waterfront di Levante redevelopment - the Waterfront and the Waterfront Arena - enhancing construction efficiency and supporting the project’s sustainability goals.

Designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop in collaboration with Studio OBR, Waterfront di Levante is Genoa’s largest urban redevelopment in 40 years, built on an artificial island along the former Trade Fair seafront

The project combines exclusive residences, startup-focused offices, public plazas, and a restored 1960s sports arena - the new Palasport - accommodating up to 5.000 visitors. The development was conceived with sustainability at its core, targeting LEED Gold certification and NZEB (Nearly Zero Energy Building) standards.

Modulo was used for the construction of public parking areas across 2 lots - the Waterfront and the Waterfront Arena - covering a total of 12,920 m² and built with up to 30,000 pieces

Thanks to its lightweight, stackable, and recyclable design, Modulo perfectly aligned with the project’s sustainability and profitability goals, supporting the Waterfront’s large-scale urban transformation while minimizing its carbon footprint. Key benefits included:

- Stackable modules that reduced transport and storage needs on the congested site,
- Fast manual installation, minimizing machinery and labor requirements,
- Up to 20 % reduction in concrete usage for parking surfaces, lowering material consumption and CO₂ emissions,
- Contribution of 14 LEED points and an EPD certification for verifiable environmental performance.
